The Railway Protection Force (RPF) remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard railway property, passenger areas and the well-being of passengers. In the month of February 2024, RPF continued to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers, while also assisting Indian Railways in providing reliable freight transportation services to its customers.
Operation “Nanhe Farishte” to rescue lost children: Under Mission “Nanhe Farishte”, RPF played a vital role in reuniting more than 521 children in need of care and protection with their families. These children were separated from their families for various reasons and the RPF worked tirelessly to ensure their safe return home.
Operation “Jeevan Raksha”: Alert and prompt action of RPF in February 2024 saved the lives of 205 passengers who accidentally fell on platforms and railway tracks while alighting or boarding moving trains and narrowly escaped getting trapped under the wheels Were.
“Meri Saheli” Initiative to Empower Women Passengers: RPF takes the safety of women passengers seriously under the “Meri Saheli” initiative. In February 2024, 228 “Meri Saheli” teams provided security assurance to 2.73 lakh women passengers in 10,659 trains. RPF also took legal action against 7357 people found traveling in coaches reserved for women passengers.
Crackdown on brokers through 'Operation Available': In the fight against brokers, RPF arrested 413 persons in the month of February 2024 and took legal action against them as per law. Additionally, they seized future reserved railway tickets worth Rs 39.50 lakh.
Combating Drug Related Crimes through Operation “Narcos”: In a commendable effort in the month of February 2024, RPF arrested 86 persons and seized narcotics worth Rs 3.41 crore. These criminals were handed over to empowered government agencies for further legal action.
Immediate action on passenger grievances: RPF promptly resolved security related passenger complaints received through Rail Madad Portal and Helpline (No. 139 integrated with Emergency Response Support System No. 112). More than 20,059 complaints were received in the month of February 2024, RPF took necessary action to resolve them.
Operation “Yatri Suraksha” on Passenger Safety: RPF complements the efforts of the police in preventing and detecting crimes against railway passengers. In February 2024, the RPF arrested 263 criminals involved in crimes against passengers, and handed them over to the concerned GRP/police for further legal action.
“Operation Sanrakshan”: In a determined effort to maintain passenger safety and safeguard railway services, RPF arrested 41 persons involved in the dangerous act of stone pelting on running trains in February 2024. Assistance to the needy (Operation Seva): With humanitarian approach, RPF provided assistance to 233 elderly, sick or injured passengers during rail travel in the month of February 2024.
